The news of a new Google product arrives just as another one, Google Reader, was just discontinued last week. Google discontinued "Notebook" in 2009 after being available for three years. You may choose between a grid and a list. You are welcome with your notes when you visit the Google Keep website. Google Notebook was a browser based service, which user to write notes, clip text and images, and save links from pages during a browser session. Evernote is designed to make it easy to keep your notes well organized, which aids in quickly finding/browsing old information. Google Keep has a very user-friendly interface no matter where you use it. Notes are organized into various notebooks, which can then be broken down further into different sections. Evernote is organized more like a traditional notebook and has far more complex features than Google Keep. For sorting features beyond this, users need to employ custom tags. Previously Google had a similar service called "Google Notebook", but it was discontinued. Users can also sort between regular notes and reminders. This isn't the first time the search giant has tried its luck with note-taking. Thats not a complaint rather, its a way to set expectations. Google knows a thing or two about search so integrating a notes service into its suite of products could prove to be useful, productive, and pull users away from popular note-taking service, Evernote. Google Keep is quite different from Evernote and OneNote, the two most powerful note-taking apps. The first traces of Google Keep were discovered last year via another Google+ page: The Next Web was able to try out the service before it was removed too and it points out how basic the website looks and speculates that it could have been meant for mobile. Over the weekend, a desktop version of Google Keep went live but was quickly taken down.
